"Yoga has become increasingly popular in New Zealand in recent years. It has shed its "girly" and "hippie" stereotypes with top athletes such as ex-All Blacks Dan Carter and Ma'a Nonu, as well as Scottish tennis star Andy Murray and boxing great Evander Holyfield, taking up the physical and mental conditioning discipline". This class is for budding high flyers aged 9 – 17 years. We learn traditional yoga poses on the floor and then we take it into the air for flight yoga. Come and explore how the body ticks with the transfer from the floor to the air using a technique that was originally designed for a New York Performance troop.
Teen High Flyers Yoga offers teens a well balanced class covering the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) which help bring peace to the mind and body maintaining balance and energy while we also strengthen our core, stretch out the limbs, challenge our limits and flip our attitude. Working in a non competitive class as an individual as well as a team be prepared to engage in a fun environment teaching focus, trust and self awareness.
Overwhelming research shows children and teenagers who practice Yoga on a regular basis have better focus in class and a higher achievement level, are more confident and better able to cope with life's day to day pressures.
